SWICN Computer Clubhouse Lego Robot Challenges

SWICN Computer Clubhouse Lego Robot Challenges

The Robot is made, and it’s course is set. Members of the Computer Clubhouse are preparing to program the finished Robot so that it can take on a variety of challenges. It will have to score goals, pick up objects, and carry out other tasks. It’s obstacle course has been built, and the members are getting ready for the First Lego League competition in Galway. There will be judges who will be awarding points and penalties based on how many tasks their Robot is and isn’t able to complete.

Make It! Break It! – Lego Faces

Make It! Break It! – Lego Faces

“First when we came into Make It! Break It! we had a talk about what we were going to make that day. Then we got split into groups, I was with Nadia & Natalia. Angel & Bianca were together and the other Natalia was with Priscilla. After we were in groups, we started to make Lego Faces. First we needed to get the lego pieces and then we assembled it. At the end we connected NXT driver to the Lego Face. We put on wheels and got to watch it move! My favourite part of todays project was working in teams, putting together the pieces and wheels and watching it move! I would like to try this again with more robots!”

Making a Difference Through Lego Robotics

Making a Difference Through Lego Robotics

The older members involved in the Lego League have begun to create autonomous robots. These robots will have to complete 10 challenges in 2 and half minutes in an arena completely on their own. In order to program their robots the members use coding to tell it what to do. The robot will have to complete challenges that include shooting a football in a goal and opening doors.

This project is a part of the First Lego League (FLL) Challenge World Class learning unleashed program ran by Lego. Not only does this project include the young people working to design an autonomous robot, but there is another half to the project. The clubhouse members have to research how to make learning easier for others through innovation. They are doing a great job, and making a difference while they have fun!
